Getting Lash Extensions for the First Time: What to Expect

Your first lash appointment is mostly quiet, comfortable, and longer than you expect. You'll lie back with your eyes closed while your lash artist isolates each natural lash and attaches an extension to it. Nothing touches your eye, and most first-time clients fall asleep.

Before your appointment

• Come with clean, makeup-free eyes — no mascara, liner, or oily eye cream.
• Skip caffeine if it makes your eyes flutter; stillness helps precision.
• Remove contact lenses, or bring a case.
• Plan a bathroom stop first — sets take a couple of hours.
• Bring photos of looks you like, and looks you don't.

The consultation comes first

Before anything is applied, we look at your natural lashes — their length, strength, and growth pattern — and at your eye shape. That determines the curl, the lengths, and the map. A set that's beautiful on someone else can look wrong on you if it ignores your eye shape, which is why we map every client individually.

Which set should a first-timer book?

Most first-time clients are happiest in a Wispy Light Volume Full Set ($155) — soft, textured, and clearly noticeable without feeling dramatic. If you want a barely-there enhancement, we'll go lighter within that style. If you already know you want density, Mega Volume Luxe ($200) is the full-drama option.

If you're not sure lashes are for you at all, Cluster Lashes ($65) is a 30–45 minute set with retention up to about two weeks — a low-commitment way to try the look before booking a full set.

How long does it take?

Plan for roughly two hours for a first full set. Refills are shorter. Rushing a first set is the main way natural lashes get damaged, so we don't compress the appointment to hit a clock.

Does it hurt?

It shouldn't. Your eyes stay closed the whole time and your lower lashes are taped away from the work area. If anything ever feels sharp, warm, or uncomfortable, say so immediately — that's fixable in the moment.

The first 48 hours

• Keep them dry for the first 24 hours while the adhesive finishes curing.
• Skip steam rooms, saunas, and hot workouts for a day.
• No mascara on extensions — ever.
• Start cleansing daily after the first day with a lash-safe foaming cleanser.
• Sleep on your back if you can; side-sleeping flattens one side first.

Then what?

Come back for a refill within 21 days ($80, or $100 for a Signature Set Refill). Past that window, you'll likely need a new full set, which costs more. Booking your next refill before you leave is the cheapest way to stay in lashes long term.
